Big Brother will be watching you for sure by 2008 -- the year a proposed requirement that Event Data Recorders (EDRs) become mandatory standard equipment in all new cars and trucks will become law unless public outrage puts the kibosh on it somehow.

EDRs are "black boxes" -- just like airplanes have. They can record a wide variety of things -- including how fast you drive and whether you "buckle-up for safety." The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wants EDRs to be installed in every new vehicle beginning with model year 2008 -- on the theory that the information will help crash investigators more accurately determine the hows and whys of accidents.

BUT EDRS COULD -- AND LIKELY WILL BE -- USED FOR OTHER PURPOSES AS WELL.

Tied into GPS navigation computers, EDRs could give interested parties -- your local cash-hungry sheriff, for example -- the ability to take automated ticketing to the next level. Since the data recorders can continuously monitor most of the operating parameters of a vehicle as it travels -- and the GPS unit can precisely locate the vehicle in "real time," wherever it happens to be at any given moment -- any and all incidents of "speeding" could be immediately detected and a piece of paying paper issued to the offender faster than he could tap the brake. That's even if he knew he was in the crosshairs, which of course he wouldn't. Probably they'll just erect an electronic debiting system of some sort that ties directly into your checking account -- since the paperwork could not keep up with the massive uptick in fines that would be generated.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

If you think this is just a dark-minded paranoiac vision, think again. Rental car companies have already deployed a very similar system of onboard electronic monitoring to identify customers who dare to drive faster than the posted limit -- and automatically tap them with a "surcharge" for their scofflaw ways. While this inventive form of "revenue enhancement" was challenged and subsequently batted down by the courts, the technology continues to be honed -- and quietly put into service.

Already, 15-20 percent of all the cars and trucks in service have EDRs; most of these are General Motors vehicles. GM has been installing "black boxes" in its new cars and trucks since about 1996 as part of the Supplemental Restraint (air bag) system. Within a few years, as many as 90 percent of all new motor vehicles will be equipped with EDRs, according to government estimates -- whether the requirement NHTSA is pushing actually becomes law or not.

The automakers are just as eager to keep tabs on us as the government -- in part to keep the shyster lawyers who have been so successfully digging into their deep pockets at bay. EDRs would provide irrefutable evidence of high-speed driving, for example -- or make it impossible for a person injured in a crash to deny he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

Insurance companies will launch "safety" campaigns urging that "we use available technology" to identify "unsafe" drivers -- and who will be able to argue against that? Everyone knows that speeding is against the law -- and if you aren't breaking the law, what have you got to worry about?

Since this morning we can see and hear the blatant lies and cover up by the US/Israeli propaganda outlets: we should never know nor understand that it also were chemicals and poison gas from the United States and 'allies', sold by their Dutch 'Ali Chemicali' representative, that killed people in Halabja.

Today they all carry the same headline as AP (Assorted Propaganda) has been filing globally: "Saddam Hussein's second trial begins in high-profile Anfal case." The Jerusalem Post is as bad as The New York Times, and like most others runs the AP lies too: ''Saddam Hussein opened his second trial with a show of defiance Monday, refusing to enter a plea on charges of genocide and war crimes connected to his scorched-earth offensive against Kurds nearly two decades ago."

Saddam and his army is also accused ''of using prohibited mustard gas and nerve agents, but the trial does not deal with the most notorious gassing - the March 1988 attack on Halabja that killed an estimated 5,000 Kurds. Most people recognize the well known stench of US hypocrisy: it was American made gas that was used to kill in Halabja, and it was sold by Saddam's 'good friends' - the US war industry. They had - among many - also a Dutch representative for the american weapons of mass destruction which were sold internationally in the war theaters - Frans van Anraat. But, van Anraat found out he was a 'Kleenex-agent' - used and thrown away when he was not needed anymore. His US employers via their CIA 'sold' him, and he was used to cover up their blame.

So, 'Ali Chemicali' the Dutch war criminal who was the agent for the US etc. selling chemicals for poison gas to Saddam, ended up in jail. He was 'sacrificed' by the 'police' and used as the 'fall guy' by the US, the CIA, Mossad and other secret services he also worked for.

But, with Anfal - the gassing of people in Halabja so prominent on some front pages again - the American war machine must again rely heavily on the brainwashing by it's 'PNAC Propaganda Press' - (PPP): because it was chemicals and gas from Fort Detrick and the war industry in Maryland in the US, that in March 1988 also killed the people in Halabja. Sold by Dutch US-agent Frans van Anraat, who after the usual juridical show trial and farce got 15 years in jail for his role in the PNAC's 'Coalition of the Killing'. And, of course: Saddam Hussein was bad, but all the time he - like many other killing despots - was one of the best allies the US military industrial complex had. But, that was not the case with the 'very underreported' story in the Sunday Herald on 22 December 2002, written by James Cusick and Felicity Arbuthnot: "The United States edited out more than 8000 crucial pages of Iraq's 11,800-page dossier on weapons, before passing on a sanitised version to the 10 non-permanent members of the United Nations security council. But the whole mafia of propaganda pimps and dish bitches treated Powell's lies is if it were the truth. Even if this Uncle Tom and his ilk behind the UN scene had been ripping out the evidence concerning also the US's crimes against humanity, by selling weapons of mass destruction to Saddam. (Most - by the way - deteriorate within a few years) - The proof that a Maryland firm was one of them who for decades had been selling the chemicals for mustard gas and other BC-weapons, turned up again last December in the court case against the American's Dutch agent 'Frans van Anraat', who sold the deadly products.

THE CIA INTERVENED - LIKE THEY THINK THEY CAN DO EVERYWHERE ON OUR EARTH

And on the pages of the global propaganda press it's not published that Dutch prosecutor Fred van Teeven never mentioned any US, French, British, German, Italian, Dutch or other murderous multinationals. According to him Frans van Anraat (64) had been a suspect since 1989, when he was arrested in Milan, Italy, at the request of the US government. But the CIA intervened - like they can everywhere - and their agent van Anraat was set free, resuming his deadly work for them in Iraq, where he remained until 2003.

After the illegal US invasion of Iraq in March 2003 and when the umpteenth criminal US/Israeli war started, van Anraat thought he would be safe in Holland, where he was hidden by the Dutch secret service AIVD in one of their 'safe houses'. Because the US propaganda spinners wanted it, the Dutch 'Ali Chemicali' had to be sacrificed and was duly arrested by his 'handlers' in December 2004. The worst chutzpah again came from the US/Israeli side which 'runs' the United Nations: ''The UN suspects he made 36 separate shipments of chemicals via the Belgian port of Antwerp through Aqaba in Jordan to Iraq'', and of course the dutch prosecution - without ever checking - parroted the US spin. The compliant prosecutor forgot to mention - like the Dutch propaganda press - that Belgium, The Netherlands and Jordan are full grown PNAC colonies, already enslaved and bled for ages. And like with the ripped out proof of US complicity and guilt in the Halabja gassing: the rest was silence, or silenced...

To give just one more example: "In 1984, the State Department arranged for the sale of 45 Bell 214ST helicopters to Iraq. Four years later The Los Angeles Times reported that "American-built helicopters'' were used to gas Kurdish civilians. In March 1988 up to 6,800 Kurds were gassed to death in Halabja by Hussein's troops. Lebanon & Neo-cons move to United Kingdom

THE HENRY JACKSON SOCIETY: WOULD-BE FASCIST WORLD RULE

EIR - On July 14, as Israeli bombers began their 5,000 sorties against Lebanon, including the devastation of Beirut, the mass murder of civilians in the town of Qana, and repeated assaults on other civilian population centers, a would-be Nuremberg Rally occurred on a small scale in an undisclosed location in Britain, where some 200 afficionados of the Henry ("Scoop") Jackson Society cheered the United Kingdom's support for the American-backed Israeli actions, and declared that this was "The British Moment."

Alan Mendoza, who is the co-president of the newly minted Scoopers' group, reported that the 200 participants "cheered to the rafters" for "the prospect of a huge increase in both the scope and frequency of British ethical intervention over the coming decade." The occasion was the release of a book called The British Moment, which is the "manifesto" of the group, which names itself after the late U.S. Sen. Henry Jackson (D-Wash.).

It is not considered good form, usually, to cheer at a funeral, and it was a funeral. The HJS participants were gloating over the corpse of the sovereign nation-state. To demonstrate the point, in his article about the meeting, called "This is the British Moment," Mendoza, a 30-something Tweener in the tradition of the American "chicken-hawks"—i.e., the American warmongers who have never donned a military uniform—crowed, "Taking our lead from our namesake," the Henry Jackson Society pushes a " 'forward strategy' to assist those countries that are not yet liberal and democratic to become so. This would involve the full spectrum of our 'carrot' capacities, be they diplomatic, economic, cultural or political, but also, when necessary, those 'sticks' of the military domain."

A few days later, on July 23 and July 26, the HJS filed a series of followup articles on its website, hailing the Israeli invasion and bombardment of Lebanon to supposedly "disarm Hezbollah" as an example to the United States and Britain as to what these two nuclear superstates should be doing. To the Baby Boomer/Tweener-aged imperialists, Lebanon does not deserve full sovereignty, so it needs "those 'sticks' of the military domain."

THE HJS EXPLAINS THAT THE ISRAELI ACTION IS NOT "PUNITIVE"; IT IS SIMPLY "COERCIVE" IN ORDER TO "FORCE THE BEIRUT GOVERNMENT TO CONFRONT THE PRESENCE OF A TERRORIST STATE WITHIN A STATE ON ITS SOIL...."

There is a need, they say, for the Israeli "stick," which is fully backed by Tony Blair, and his American partners, Bush and Cheney, because, "Unfortunately, the Lebanese state has entered a Faustian bargain with Hezbollah.... In return for Hezbollah's continued good behaviour at home, the movement has been allowed to export terror accross the border."

The Henry Jackson Society is right now in its larval stage, set up in March 2005 by a combination of the scions of the "Golden Age" of British synarchy—the infamous Round Table—and the American neo-conservatives of the imperial/fascist Committee on the Present Danger (CPD), who needed a new base of operations and moved to London, as the American population turned bitterly against the Bush-Cheney regime in 2005. As EIR reported in June 2004, the CPD was reincarnated by the neo-cons for a third time, because support for the Iraq War "was in jeopardy." The first CPD of 1950-51 was a project of the Harry Truman Administration's Psychological Strategy Board, used to propagandize for preventive nuclear war against North Korea.

WARMONGERS OF THE BUSH-CHENEY "FIRST STRIKE" PREVENTIVE WAR DOCTRINE

The second CPD incarnation was in 1976, around the Presidential campaign of Sen. Scoop Jackson, who wanted direct confrontation with the Soviet Union. The men who ran Jackson's policy in the 1970s, and then founded the CPD, were the leading warmongers of the Bush-Cheney "first strike" preventive war doctrine, including Paul Wolfowitz, Bush's former Deputy Secretary of Defense, now at the World Bank; and Richard Perle, former chairman of Defense Policy Board. These two, along with Douglas Feith, Bush's former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, set up the rogue intelligence network in the Pentagon that reported directly to Cheney's office. Another important figure on Scoop Jackson's 1976 Presidential campaign team was Lazard Brothers synarchist banker Felix Rohatyn, who was his chief economic policy advisor.

While Rohatyn is not as well known as the neo-cons, he is perhaps the most important figure in this would-be fascist world government. Through his mentor André Meyer, CEO of Lazard Frères, the World War II-era investment bank, and investment controller today for such important institutions as the Washington Post, Rohatyn is a direct scion of the pro-Nazi Synarchist International of the 1940s. Meyer, who called Rohatyn his "son" and groomed him to take over the key operations of Lazard, is named in World War II intelligence documents prepared for President Franklin D. Roosevelt as a collaborator of the Nazis' allies in France.

SUCH IS THE NATURE OF THE NEW HENRY JACKSON SOCIETY.

Today, in the United States, this network is severely weakened—blamed for the glib prediction that the toppling of Saddam Hussein would be a "cakewalk." And their latter-day "Scoop," Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.), went down in flames in his Aug. 8 primary election, defeated* because of his blind allegiance to the Cheney doctrine and the Iraq War policy.

Lieberman, who is co-chairman of the Committee on the Present Danger, gave the keynote to its founding meeting on June 16, 2004, in which he declared "Islamic Jihadism" to be the 21st-Century equivalent to "Nazi totalitarianism" of the early 20th Century.
