Ashamed to be an American

I never thought I would reach the point where I was ashamed of my country.

I was wrong.

I've loved America for most of my 58 years. I've fought for her, killed for her, bled for her and damn near died for her more than once.

I served my country even when I thought she was wrong because I felt it was my duty as an American to do so.

But I can no longer do so. America today has become what we always stood up against: A tyrant, a destroyer of freedom, an international murderer with no regard for human rights or life, no morality and no belief in the rule of law.

America now threatens the peace of the world far more than any terrorist group, any communist country or any tinhorn dictator with a suitcase nuke.

""I lived with the Americans for one year and eight months as if I was living in hell," Baghdad shopkeeper Amjad Qassim al-Aliyawi told The Associated Press after he was released from 20 months in captivity without ever being charged with a crime or even being told what he was suspected of doing.

According to an AP investigative report, the American government holds some 14,000 detainees in secret prisons around the world. Few have any idea why they are held, all are denied legal representation or even given details of the charges against them and many are later released without explanation or even an apology.

"If you, God forbid, are an innocent Afghan who gets sold down the river by some warlord rival, you can end up at Bagram and you have absolutely no way of clearing your name," says John Sifton of Human Rights Watch in New York.

"You can't have a lawyer present evidence, or do anything organized to get yourself out of there."

Evidence continues to mount that many of these prisoners are tortured in ways that violate the Geneva Convention, the international accord that governs how civilized nations are supposed to treat prisoners of war and President George W. Bush reminds us constantly that we at "war" with "terrorism."

But America is really at war with itself, attacked from within by a madman President who claims a divine mission from God, waging a fierce battle against the principles that once guided this nation and set it above those who treated human life with callous disregard and claimed any means, no matter how barbaric, justified the cause.

America is no longer respected by its allies, admired on the world stage or trusted by its own citizens. Polls show an overwhelming majority of Americans think Bush's lies-based war in Iraq was a monumental mistake. Most also think the President of the United States is dishonest and that our government lies to us on a regular basis.

Sadly, they are right. The Iraq war is an incredible FUBAR that has destroyed a nation, created a new haven for terrorists and cost more American lives than the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Bush is not only a serial liar but an unstable despot whose sanity is increasingly doubted by members of his own family and party. He ignores the will of the people he is supposed to serve, violates international law at will and shreds the Constitution along with the freedoms it once protected.

America has detained without charges, and then released without explanation or apology, nearly 18,700 people since June 2004, the AP investigation found. Many of those released tell horror stories of their treatment while imprisoned, including torture by attaching electrical wires to genital areas, waterboarding (creating the fear of drowning by submerging prisoners), use of dogs and threats of long-term imprisonment.

Waleed Abdul Karim, 26, told the AP how his guards would wield their absolute authority.

"Tell us about the ones who attack Americans in your neighborhood," he quoted an interrogator as saying, "or I will keep you in prison for another 50 years."

Such treatment only fuels hatred towards this country. "I will hate Americans for the rest of my life," Karim said.

I understand why Karim hates Americans and the country they represent. I don't hate America. I love my country but I hate what our so-called leaders have done to her.

Thanks to the illogical, illegal and insane actions of George W. Bush and those who follow him, Americans can no longer hold their heads high and take pride in their country.

Bush and his fellow terrorists have destroyed a great country and I fear the damage may be permanent and irreparable.

A red or a blue Volvo? Only the driver counts...

FPF - Sept. 18th - 2006 - After yesterdays elections in Sweden, the rightwing management plans fully joining NATO's war machine, selling $27.6 billion of tax paid state firms, and plans to better cooperate with the European Union. Social services will be cut: 'to create more work' - "We have common and well-prepared policies, but we also agreed that the judgment of the electorate must be a success with the forthcoming government" - said Sweden's next PM Fredrik Reinfeldt to TT, the Swedish media information service. Knowing 'the electorate' has no say for the next four years.

Reinfeldt and the other Alliance party leaders will negotiate the ministerial posts over the next two weeks, and these must be decided by October 2nd. Parliament opens the following day and Reinfeldt will be Sweden's new prime minister. "In a month there is a new budget and I hope to be able to present the new gov't on October 6th," he said. Internationally shares in many of the big multinational companies rose about two percent after Reinfeldt's election 'victory' which should say enough about 'trusting the new Volvo driver'.

What in reality has happened in Sweden, and mainstream media 'forget' to report, is that 'the Volvo they are driving has changed color from red to blue' - but the driver(s) still remain the same. The political front now openly presented as a rightwing/conservative 'Alliance', is however something new to many inhabitants of the 9 million country, of which more than half believed they lived in some kind of 'social-democracy' and voted for it.*

PRIME MINISTER OLOF PALME WAS GUNNED DOWN

Because of the fact that the so called 'socialists' have ruled Sweden for close to seven decades - they also did a lot of good things - many of the party-politruks had turned into little 'Dons' who thought they could do no wrong. And some really behaved like it. Prime minister Göran Persson alienated everybody because 'he was looking down on people' and his arrogance, camouflaging his insecurity. But Sweden was earlier brutally shaken awake - and as some say 'lost it's innocence' - when Prime minister Olof Palme was gunned down in the street in the Swedish capital Stockholm on Febr. 28, 1986.* The naked face of global political aggression was shown.

After researching this political murder for one year I explained my conclusions in a full page article in one of the biggest Swedish newspapers (GP). Olof Palme was - according to my research - killed because he did not go along with the big illegal multinational weapons trade and electronics sales, also by the Swedish firms of Bofors and Ericsson. Nor did he accept orders from Washington. He was never invited to the US by it's gov't, and seen as a 'stumbling block' concerning profits by the criminal multinationals. The professional 'acute lead poisoning' ended their problems and his life. He was quite an acceptable man, Olof Palme.

IN CHARGE OF MOST BANKING AND INDUSTRY

But, to keep it short and easy: Sweden as a country, and as an important part of the global production unit, has for ages been run by two 'front' families. The Wallenberg dynasty - yes, Raoul too: http://tinyurl.com/ogcd6 - and the Bonnier clan. The Wallenberg group - and sub-groups, divisions etc. - is in charge of most banking and industry - everything from airplanes to arms - and the Bonniers people take care of 'education' by for instance the media, and printing school- university- and other books. So the Swedes live in a world of their own. Paying the highest taxes in the world and Bonniers papers and other literature confirming daily that everything is OK in their little kingdom.

So today all mainstream media report that after many years of Social Democrat rule, the new Alliance has promised to cut taxes (for whom?) and as new 'boss' Reinfeldt said: "to make the welfare state more 'work friendly' by cutting benefits that decrease the incentive to get a job." The whip is heard cracking. One half of the Swedes voters now wonders how the other half can believe the usual lies and this kind of 'hot air' promises - like always making the rich richer and the poor poorer.

THE INCOMING PRIME MINISTER FAVORS SWEDEN JOINING NATO

Internationally today the 'news' is spread that ''The incoming prime minister favors Sweden joining NATO if there is broad agreement. He wants Sweden more involved in the EU but has no plans for a referendum on the euro currency in the next four years. Swedes rejected adopting the euro in 2003." - However, the managers of Sweden know that adopting the Euro has shown to be very profitable for those central bankers who do it, and are not expected to wait four more years.

Shoving their Euros down the throat of the people in different countries is making billions for those bankers who enforce it. To name one example: in The Netherlands people got poorer and were shocked to find out - the gov't didn't tell them - that prices had risen forty-nine-dot-one percent within two years after the 'introduction' of the never asked for Euro. This according to a Haagse Post - a dutch weekly - investigation, which very fast disappeared and never again openly was spoken about. And it is expected that Sweden will go that Via Dolorosa too, now the few brakes left on the down hill ride are gone too.

SWEDEN THE MIDDLE WAY

Seventy years ago Marquis W. Childs wrote a book that became food for thought and a beacon for humanitarians: 'Sweden: The Middle Way' [Yale University Press, 1936] - in which the Swedish model of governing - small whip and big carrot - positively was described. With the highest taxes in the world, but people getting much in return: free medicare, education, social services, acceptable pensions a.s.o. What's left of that dream will be further broken down, a further shredding of the social fabric can be expected.

What the Swedes now face are the multinational totalitarians, with their gloves taken off. 'The Middle Way' has ended, and from now on it will be a big whip and small carrots.

Red or blue: the drivers are still the same.
